Hug Bunny | Whimsy Stamps Video + Zig Clean Color Markers

Happy Tuesday everyone!  Hope you are all having a great week! I have been crafting in between all the Spring cleaning, which means that I as sore and my nails are a wreck! LOL! It feels great to get the house all cleaned and fresh after what seemed like the longest winter in a long time.  I have even been out in the gardens and have a few pots planted. I am waiting until later this week to get the vegetable garden going although there are a few little surprises already growing in there. Last year’s kale, parsley and onions are all growing back and I think, there are the begininings of some lettuce. Is that even possible?!!

Alright, back to all things crafty. I am totally in love with this new clear stamp set from Whimsy: Hugs Bunny. It is all sweet and tender and all things. I saw one of the DT memebers had paired one of the images up with the Formal Lattice Stencil and I thought they looked so great together that I was inspired to use them together as well. Here is Whimsy DT Andreas card –>HERE

I watercolored the images with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers because I love how soft yet how pigmented the colors are!  The video will take you through the coloration and I have listed all the markers used. I have also included the list at the bottom of this post! Let me know if you like when I do this!

WIthout any more waffling, here is my card:

Mermaid Love | Honey Bee Stamps + Video

Happy Friday and since I live in a home with Star Wars fanatics; May the Fourth be with you. I have a brand new video to share with you today sharing a card that I made using the very sweet Honey Bee Mermaid stamp set. I love her peaceful expression. Icreated a simple one layer card using inks to create an underwater background for the mermaid and her little friend to float in. It was super easy to do and you will see each step in the video!

Working with Stencils | Whimsy Stamps + Video

Happy Tuesday everyone! I have a short video tutorial for you today that shares a couple of the ways that I like to use stencils.  Recently Whimsy Stamps has been releasing a few new designs each month and I have become absolutely obsessed with using them. Today I will share a popular method which is to ink blend over top the stencil design.

Then I will share another technique which uses embsossing paste. Don’t be scared! It is surprisingly easy and the results are stunning!

Fairy and Her Bunny | Whimsy Stamps + Video

Happy Friday everyone! I have a new card and video to share with you featuring Whimsy Stamps.  I totally adore all these gorgeous images from Marina Fedatova’s Fairy line. They are so sweet and delicate and they pair up just beautifully with all of Whimsy  Stamps’ sentiments and especially their background stamps and stencils.

For this particular card, I was trying to channel Spring, as it has still not arrived here in Quebec. We just had another bout of freezing rain and woke up to snow on the ground….again. It is the middle of April and my kids are home because school had to be cancelled due to all the ice on the roads. Where are the tulips and buds on the trees?  So, as I was saying, I guess I am going to have to try to create a little bit of Spring magic here in my craft studio and hope that it will soon appear for real!!

I had colored up this cutie and cut the Neenah cardstock to measure 4.0” x 5.25”. More and more, I am liking CAS cards (Clean and Simple). They really let the image be the star of the card.  I did want to add some type of background but, truth be told, I felt too lazy to create a mask for the image.  Then I realized that I could use the Farmhouse stencil and carefully sponge the ink around the image without adding ink on top of the image. I used 3 different distrss inks: Twisted Citron Distress Oxide, Peeled Paint and Mowed Lawn. This gave dimension and texture to all the leaves and made it seem like this little fairy and her bunny friend are nestled amongst some fresh, leafy greenery.  By using the smaller sponge dauber as opposed to the larger ranger sponge blenders, I was able to be very precise in where I added the ink! I love how easy this was to do and how dramatically it transformed the image.

The last step was to add the sentiment. I picked a couple of the words from the Farmhouse Wreath Clear stamp set. I love the font and how easily you can mix and match the different words to create your own unique, personalized sentiment. The very last thing I did was to add some clear adhesive rhinestones for a touch of sparkle!

Thanks for stopping by!  I was happy to have the time and the energy to be a little bit more chatty. These last months have been hard on me and I have had no energy….it has been hard to stay on top of our lives, let alone write creative blog posts. Thanks for staying and sticking with me!

Tea Time Picnic | Mama Elephant + Video

Happy Wednesday everyone! Again, it has been a while since my last posting but I was actually pretty sick. Hopefully that is all behind me now and I can get on with crafting a little bit more.

I fell in LOVE with this set when I first saw it and I did’t even think twice about it….I knew that I needed the stamp and die set! I think that I am going to get a lot of use out of it because it lends itself so beautifully to scene card as well as little mini cards (I have an idea in the works). My how-to video as well as the supply list can be found right after these photo stills!
